ACCESS CONTROL
General
Hardware Description
System Hardware and Architecture
- Keri’s unique system architecture is built around the PXL-500 Smart
Entry Controller and its family of companion plug-in Option Boards which
establish or enhance the functionality of each controller. The PXL-500
manages one or two doors and can be used in a stand-alone mode or networked
to build systems up to 64 doors. One PXL-500 on the network acts as the
Master and is the gateway to the network for communications via either
PC direct connect, modem, or hand held programmer. The other PXL-500s
become slave controllers on a reliable RS-485 communication network which
receive their programming information from the Master. If one controller
becomes non-operational, the other controllers on the network still function
normally. Keri hardware components come with the best warranty in the
industry.
READERS
The Keri Systems Access Control
System uses the latest non-contact technology to create the ideal access
control solution. The reader uses low frequency radio emissions to send
identification information between a passive access card, that is available
in a range of forms, to a reader adjacent to the door, or even hidden
within the wall. A wide range of readers are available from the standard
MS-5000 as used at the Haywards sub station, to sophisticated bullet proof
units for extreme installations. Read ranges vary from 10 cm to 40 cm
for the commonly used units. Extended read ranges are available for specialised
installations.

MS-7000
SuperStarTM Proximity Reader
This reader provides up
to 15" (38cm) read range for applications where extra range adds to
the convenience of the system, such as parking entrances or reading
through extra thick building materials. The reader measures just 6"
x 8.5" x 0.83" (15.2cm x 21.6cm x 2.1cm), far smaller than other readers
with comparable read ranges. Lifetime Warranty |

MS-9000
MegaStarTM Extended Range Proximity Reader
- Measuring 12" x 16" x 1.3" (30.5cm x 40.6cm x 3.3cm), this reader
provides up to 26" (66cm) read range for applications where longer
read distance adds to the convenience of the system, such as hands-free
and physically challenged applications. Lifetime Warranty. |
THE
INTELLIGENCE BEHIND THE READERS
Intelliprox
Intelliprox is a budget
self contained controller that provides basic door control facilities,
that allow up to 500 cards to be held in memory. This unit when purchased
with the MS-5000 reader adds only a small amount to the cost of the
reader, and provides an excellent and cost effective solution to the
less frequented sites that require access control. |

The Benefits
of Non Contact Technology
Non contact access control
has proven itself to be far more cost effective in the long term than
contact type solutions. The lack of physical contact is itself a major
advantage, as contamination and dirt ingress are simply not an issue.
Readers can be positioned within or behind walls so that they are inaccessible
from the outside. The form of the card is more flexible, with small key
tag styles as well as standard credit card styles being available. Access
cards can be kept within wallets or attached to key rings without the
need to remove them to swipe.
Integration
Options
Proxlock has various options
in which it can integrate into other systems. The Intelliprox unit is
capable of generating standard Wiegand 26 bit codes that can be read by
compatible controllers. This allows non contact technology to be integrated
into existing systems. The PXL-500 is able to read Wiegand codes, allowing
it to integrate into an existing installation of readers. This facility
is in use at the Haywards sub station. This gives the installer a high
degree of flexibility in how the system can be tailored for any given
existing installation.
PC Support
Keri Systems have created a
sophisticated Windows based application called DOORS to setup, configure
and monitor the PXL-500 access control system. This utility provides all
that is required to enrol cards, set up timetables, create personal databases
and monitor the network of PXL-500s. PXL-500s can be instructed to store
access events up to a certain level, then dial in and down load these
events when a specified number is accrued. DOORS can be unlocked
from the PC, plus a whole range of other options.
Backup Service
Keri Systems provide a 12 day
freight service from the USA for ordered parts. Remote Control Solutions
Ltd. provide the local backup and product support, in association with
Keri Systems’ local representative. Remote Control Solutions Ltd. import
directly from Keri Systems, which keeps prices down as well as keeping
Remote Control Solutions Ltd. in close communications with Keri Systems.
All Keri Systems cards come with a full LIFETIME warranty.
Typical Installation
A standard installation would
be one PXL-500 controller with two readers, most likely MS-5000s, controlling
two doors. A shared database would exist for the doors. A magnetic lock
or strike lock would be fitted to the doors. This installation would typically
cost around NZ$2200.00. This would be significantly reduced where volume
is concerned.
Remote Control Solutions Ltd
have a range of products many of which are our own design and manufacture
that integrate the PXL-500 controller into existing Foxboro Master Stations.
